Why We March

This Saturday, we’ll join thousands of our friends and allies to participate in the Women’s March in downtown Denver. The march is a movement for “social justice, human rights, equity, and inclusion,” and this is what we strive for—not just for ourselves, but also for the people we serve at The Gathering Place.

Founded in 1986, The Gathering Place is the only daytime drop-in center in metropolitan Denver that serves women, children, and transgender individuals experiencing poverty, many of whom are homeless. We believe deeply in the power of our community and continually work to make it stronger. Our key values include recognizing individual strengths, building respect and trust, and offering unconditional acceptance.

If you plan to attend the march this Saturday, please join us. We’ll be the group proudly carrying a bright yellow banner with The Gathering Place’s logo. If you’re willing but unable to attend, we’ll be marching for you.
