Turning Vision into Action: An Update from The Gathering Place

Dear TGP Community Member,

I hope this message finds you well. First, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support of The Gathering Place (TGP). Your commitment to our mission makes an incredible difference in the lives of women, gender-diverse people, and their children, helping them find stability through our programs focused on home, health, purpose, and community.

Amid a year of change, including last week’s election results, I know many of us are feeling the weight of uncertain times. Many in our community may be feeling discouraged. But we want to remind you that together, we have the strength and resilience to continue making a real impact right here in Colorado. There is power in community. At The Gathering Place, we remain steadfast in our vision of an inclusive Colorado where all marginalized groups have access to pathways for housing, stability, and support.

At our recent brand launch event, we celebrated an exciting new direction for our organization. After nearly 40 years, we unveiled our updated mission, vision, and values, which reflect our continued evolution to meet the changing needs of those we serve.

Highlights from our new direction:

  • Our mission is to support women, gender diverse people, and their children in building stable lives through home, health, purpose, and community programs.
  • We envision a Colorado where all marginalized groups have pathways to housing and stability.
  • We work to embody our values of community, inclusivity, empowerment, hope, and safety.
  • Expanded services: we’re deepening our offerings to not only meet essential needs but also create meaningful pathways toward housing and stability, through low-barrier and culturally responsive practices.

In the past year, the need for our services has grown considerably:

  • We supported over 46,000 visits to our day center, served over 44,000 meals, and saw an increase of 10,000 visits from the previous year, underscoring the rising need for supportive services.
  • We launched Elati Village, a tiny home community that provides critical shelter and services to individuals who were previously experiencing unsheltered homelessness.
  • We introduced Resource Navigation and Case Management in our Family Program, and nearly half of the households served have since secured stable housing.

A shared vision for the future:

With the dedication of supporters like you, we will continue to turn our vision into reality: a Colorado where all marginalized groups find pathways to housing and stability. In times of both hope and uncertainty, we remain committed to uplifting our community and creating lasting change.

Thank you for walking alongside us on this transformative journey. Your support empowers us to provide resources and hope for those who need it most.

In partnership and community,

Heather Beck
