Group Volunteer Opportunities
From local book clubs, to corporate groups, to friend groups - we have group volunteering opportunities available throughout the year. Even a small group of two or three people can make a huge impact through a couple of hours of volunteering.
Let The Gathering Place host your next group volunteering activity!
We offer all volunteer groups a tour of The Gathering Place to really connect the meaning behind the volunteer work to our mission, and most importantly, our members. A staff member is available at all group volunteer events to help guide, instruct, and support the group. We offer safe, accessible, and meaningful ways to get involved that make a real impact on our community. We would also be happy to take a group photo of your team to help commemorate the event!
Please note the minimum age for all volunteers is 16 years+ and we typically plan these events at least a month out.

Meal Sponsorship
Our Meal Sponsorship Program offers the chance to connect with our members through a direct service, while also helping The Gathering Place offset our meal costs. Groups agree to fund, help prepare, and serve breakfast or lunch to 75-100 members in our dining room. All ingredients will conveniently be ready upon your team’s arrival, and meal preparations are guided by our Food Program staff. Please note that we schedule Meal Sponsorships about a month out.
Breakfast – 7:00am~10:30am, $1,250 donation, 3-6 volunteers needed
Lunch – 9:00am-2:00pm, $1,500 donation, 3-6 volunteers needed
All Day – 8:00am-2:00pm, split into 2-3 shifts of 3-6 volunteers each, $2,500 donation, 6-18 total volunteers needed

Monthly Birthday Celebration Sponsorship
There’s always something to celebrate at The Gathering Place! Join us by sponsoring our monthly get-togethers for cake, ice cream, or other tasty treats to celebrate our members' birthdays and other accomplishments. Please note that we schedule sponsorships about a month out.
Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, from 1:30pm-3:00pm
2-4 volunteers, $200 donation
Off-site Group Acitivities
The following options are more flexible opportunities, as they are mostly lead by the participating organization. Tailor these events to your team's specific needs and interests while helping to provide essential, daily resources to our members! We just ask that any donations be dropped off during The Gathering Place's business hours as we may not have the capacity for donation pick up.

Make Sack Lunches
Sack lunches are essential for our members who are on the go and may not have time to sit down for a hot meal in our dining room. We ask that the participating organization buy the ingredients and then prep and pack the lunches, so they are ready to distribute! Sack lunches typically include: a sandwich, fruit, granola or protein bar, and a snack (ie. chips, trail mix, beef stick, cookie, etc.). Monday or Tuesday drop-off works best for this opportunity so that we can hand out the lunches that same week.
On any given week, we will need roughly:
20 PB+J Sandwiches
30 Ham + Cheese Sandwiches
40 Turkey + Cheese SandwichesNote that it is not required to make ALL the sandwiches requested and varying amounts are still accepted and appreciated! Please connect with volunteer@tgpdenver.org BEFORE planning this event – in order to make the most use of your donations we will need to coordinate with our Kitchen team!

Basic Hygiene Kits
Simple shower kits with the essentials are best: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, and lotion. Volunteers can work together to pack these items into a kit and any additional donations may be sorted into like groups, for example, all toothpastes can go together, hair brushes and combs all together, chapsticks and lip conditioners together, etc.
Can we include additional items in the kit, like menstrual products, or a toothbrush and toothpaste?
Great question, we prefer shower kits that just have those basic, most needed items. We distribute most of our resources using a choice-based model, meaning members can pick and choose which items they need and want. For example, not everyone may need a tampon after their shower, and some people already have toothbrushes and may only need toothpaste. This choice-based model ensures that our members receive only the items they want and will use, protecting their dignity and sense of choice while also making your donations go further! -
Host a Donation Drive
Connect with our team to discuss any ideas you have, your goals for the event and we will align them with TGP’s most immediate needs. 100% of these donations go straight to our members, always free of charge. These essential daily items directly support our members’ dignity, health, and wellbeing. We ask that all donations be dropped off at The Gathering Place during our business hours.
Here are some unique Donation Drive ideas:
T-shirt Camp: Make tie-dye or print t-shirts that are women’s and unisex.
Cookbook: Have each person purchase the non-perishable ingredients to make their favorite recipe to donate. They then make two copies of the recipe – one to include in their donation and one to put into a community cookbook, scrapbook style.
Clothing Swap: Everyone brings their lightly used clothing (nothing with holes, stains, or really worn, etc.) to swap and exchange on a designated time and date. Anything that doesn’t find a new home gets donated to The Gathering Place! Please note that due to space limitations we can only take up to 12 garbage sized bags of clothing.
Please fill out the form below or connect with volunteer@tgpdenver.org BEFORE planning any of these events. In order to make the most of your donations we will need to coordinate with our Programs & Services teams!
