The Gathering Place's Board of Directors Confirmed Heather Beck as Permanent CEO Amid Overwhelming Staff Support 

[Denver, CO] – August 16, 2024 – The Gathering Place, a Denver homeless services provider, is excited to announce the appointment of Heather Beck as its permanent Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Heather, who has been serving as the interim CEO since February, brings a wealth of experience and a passionate commitment to advancing the organization’s mission. 

Over the past months, Heather Beck has led The Gathering Place with a clear vision and a steady hand, guiding the organization through significant challenges, including a period of restructuring and strategic realignment. With her leadership, The Gathering Place is committed to refining and enhancing its current services, ensuring even greater impact and community support while leaning into strengths and deepening existing efforts. Following an overwhelmingly positive response from staff surveys regarding her interim performance, the path forward was clear for the Board of Directors. 

"Heather’s prior leadership role as Vice President of Programs and Services was instrumental in positioning TGP as an essential resource in our community," said Elizabeth Ferguson, Chair of the Board of Directors. "This coupled with her deep understanding of the issues facing our community, combined with her strategic vision and compassionate leadership, made her the clear choice to lead The Gathering Place into the future." 

Heather Beck brings over two decades of experience in non-profit leadership, with a focus on homeless services.  

"I am humbled and acknowledge the great responsibility of taking on this role permanently," said Heather. "The Gathering Place is a vital resource for so many in our community, and I am committed to ensuring that we continue to provide the highest level of support to those we serve. Together, with our dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters, we will achieve great things." 

As the new CEO, Heather is dedicated to reinforcing The Gathering Place's core operations by prioritizing stability, mission impact, financial resilience, and staff wellness. Her leadership is centered on ensuring the organization is stronger, more resilient, and better equipped to serve the community with greater impact. She is also committed to strengthening partnerships with local government, businesses, and other non-profits to create more comprehensive solutions to the issues of poverty and homelessness in Denver.
